Vinpro Technical Harvest Report 2025

DARLING DISTRICT

The Darling district is grateful for an excellent season. White cultivars delivered slightly better yields, while red cultivars – especially Pinotage and Shiraz – produced significantly larger harvests. Grape quality was excellent, and analyses were favourable. Wine quality appears particularly promising in terms of balance and colour, with Chenin Blanc and Shiraz already taking the lead. Analyses were beautiful throughout; red cultivars produced excellent colour development; wines are balanced. – André Scriven, Head Winemaker, Darling Cellars “ Summary This season will be remembered for the moderate and favourable weather conditions during the harvest. Nights were cool, and although a few warm days were recorded, the district did not experience any prolonged heat waves. Grapes developed in a balanced and healthy manner, and analyses were excellent, with exceptionally good acidity and pronounced fruity notes in the young wines contributing to a standout vintage.

Some of the best wines that I have seen in two decades. – Eben Sadie, Winemaker-Owner, Sadie Family Wines “
