Die duitse klas is ’n veilige hawe waar ons net onsself kan wees, ons mekaar ondersteun, die liefde vir die duitste taal deel en ware vriendinne maak. Die duitse klas is ’n plek vol gelaggery en pret! Mit dem Schültute Show-off haben wir das Schuljahr eröffnet. Die Klasse 8 setzte die Tradition der Schültute am Beginn des Jahres fort, aber diesmal mit einer Wendung! Die Schüler haben ihr Werk auf spielerische Weise mit Musik vor einer Jury präsentiert. Im 2. Semester hat der Verein Zitate und kleine Geschenke gemacht um den deutschen Mädchen vor den bevorstehenden Prüfungen, viel Glück zu wünschen. Wir haben auch ein Logo für unseren Verein im 2. Semester entworfen! Im 3. Semester organisierten wir einen Deutschen Filmabend, um Spenden für ein Geschenk für die Matriker 2021 zu sammeln. Der Deutschkurs war voller Popcorn, viel Gelächter und Kommentaren zum Film! Wie man sieht, hat es uns wahnsinnig Spaß gemacht. As the Chairlady of the German Society of 2021 I could not have wished for a more supportive, understanding team, but nothing would have possible without Frau Janssen’s support. She is our teacher, but also a shoulder to cry on and to me personally she was one of my biggest supporters in times of adversity. Das Glück hilft dem Kühnen. During the first term, we started off with our annual tradition of Mardi Gras, where the Grade 8s dressed up in their hand-crafted French hats. After careful consideration from our judges, Amelie Pelham (8.1) won. In Term 2, we held a Market Day, where we sold croissants and eclairs. It was a grand succès. Our last function was the Galette des Reines, where cupcakes were given to all of the French students and only one cupcake had a coin in it. Bella du Toit (12.1), the winner, found the coin and was dressed in a princess outfit. Even though this year was filled with challenges like COVID, we had so much fun working as a team. I think a good quote that we stood by this year was, ’ nous vivons dans un arc-en-ciel de chaos’ – we live in a rainbow of chaos! We wish the Committee of 2022 bonne chance.
