Vinpro Technical Harvest Report 2025

red cultivars exhibited slower ripening rates, requiring more time to reach optimal sugar concentrations, while their pH levels were slightly elevated. Early indications suggest that the wines from the early-ripening white and red cultivars show strong potential for high quality, with the late-ripening red cultivars expected to produce softer wines. Chardonnay and Pinotage are demonstrating excellent quality at this stage. Given that the cellars began the harvest with low stock levels, there were minimal issues with tank space. Juice recoveries from the early-ripening white cultivars were exceptional, while those from the middle and later cultivars were in line with the long-term average.

Summary The 2024-2025 season has been marked by exceptionally favourable weather conditions, leading to a healthy and robust harvest. Production levels for 2025 were higher across all cultivars, following a smaller 2024 harvest due to severe frost damage. While Chenin Blanc yields remain slightly below average, they still show an improvement over the 2024 season. Overall, harvest expectations are in line with those of 2023. Producers are optimistic about the quality of the 2025 vintage, anticipating wines of exceptional character.
