As we celebrate 165 years of La Rochelle’s proud legacy, I am reminded that excellence is never accidental. In our case, it is the result of a school community living out the values of Love, Acceptance and Respect. These values are not just words – they are the foundation of our school’s enduring success. This year, our learners have once again excelled in academics, sport and culture. The 2024 matrics achieved excellent results and our teams and individuals have shone on provincial, national and even international stages. These achievements are a testament to the dedication of our staff, the commitment of our learners and the unwavering support of our parents and alumnae.
Strategic Vision and Community Involvement The SGB’s oversight role is most visible in our commitment to long-term planning and community engagement. Our five-year strategic plan, developed collaboratively with staff, learners, parents and alumnae, is already bearing fruit. It guides our focus on academic excellence, innovation and holistic development. A highlight this year has been the establishment of the SGB Liaison Committee, under the leadership of Theresa de Villiers. This committee has strengthened the sense of community, advocated increased participation and fostered a spirit of collective ownership. It is inspiring to see so many parents and volunteers stepping forward to support the school.
