EQUESTRIAN As I reach the end of my final year as captain of our Equestrian team, I am incredibly proud as I look back on our achievements this year. It has been a fantastic journey, and I am honoured to have led such a dedicated and talented group of riders. Throughout the year, our riders have competed in a variety of events, showing our versatility and commitment to doing our best. From endurance rides to saddle seat, Western Mounted Games, polocrosse, SANESA events, graded dressage and eventing, each competition has been a chance for our riders to shine. I am excited to say that our performances have been outstanding. Each rider has worked hard, and their results reflect this. Many of our SANESA riders represented Cape Winelands at Regional Champs, a number of whom qualified for the Western Cape team. Juliette Stock went on to compete at the SANESA Nationals in Gauteng. Competing at such a big event is a huge accomplishment, and her dedication truly showed the spirit of our team. We are all incredibly proud of her hard work and success. We entered 5 teams in the Interschools Dressage competition, where we achieved success both in the individual as well as team classes. We won all three team events as well as the overall Winning School trophy, evidence of hard work, skill and determination. Watching our team excel has been one of the highlights of my time as captain, and I am thankful for the effort our equestrians put in every day. In the Interschools Show-Jumping we competed against 10 other Boland schools. Besides some outstanding individual results, our 3 teams gave it their all, winning both the Novice and Intermediate team trophies and placing 3rd in the Open team event. The combined results secured us the Overall Winning School trophy in Show-Jumping, to complement our overall win in the Dressage, making us the undisputed Equestrian Inter Schools champions of 2024! As I get ready to pass the reins to our next captain, I want to say thank you to each team member for their hours spent training and their love of the sport, our coaches and our supportive families. Thank you for believing in us and for helping create our Equestrian family, built on love for the animals, passion for the sport, hard work and friendship.
