La Rochelle Yearbook 2024

ANNUAL REPORT

Dear Larries, Colleagues, and Friends As I prepare to say goodbye after 31 wonderful years at La Rochelle, I find myself reflecting on the countless memories we’ve created together. Teaching here has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Each of you has contributed to my journey in ways I will always cherish. From the laughter in the classroom to the challenges we faced, every moment has shaped not only my career but also who I am as a person. I am deeply grateful for the support and camaraderie of my fellow teachers and the inspiring curiosity of my students. While it’s difficult to say farewell, I am excited to see where your journeys will take you. I will carry the lessons learned and the friendships formed here in my heart. Thank you for being a part of my life. I wish you all success, happiness, and a passion for learning that lasts a lifetime. [Chorus] We are family I’ve got all my sisters with me. We are family Get up, everybody, and sing. We are family I’ve got all my sisters with me. We are family Get up, everybody, and sing

Being the German teacher for the past 3 years, I had big shoes to fill, but this privilege and opportunity have given me more than I can put into words. A few tears have already been shed, but I look back upon my journey, filled with gratitude and ready for the new chapter that awaits me. I’ll keep my message short and sweet as I have always done. Don’t see your high school years as something to rush, just to become an adult as quickly as possible. On the contrary, enjoy your childhood freedom while it lasts, and cherish the little moments of happiness during this adventure – you’ll be looking after yourself sooner than you can imagine. Bestaan vs leef. Mej. Carmari Marais

With warmest wishes, Mev. Sonnet Vorster
