Breede River valley Trials in the Breede River valley were conducted at the ARC Infruitec-Niet- voorbij research farm near Robertson.Winter rainfall in this region cannot reliably support cover crops, therefore trials were irrigated with full-surface sprinklers or micro-sprinklers. Open-land trials Twenty-six cover-crop species and cultivars were grown in open fields under full-surface sprinkler irrigation. The seeding density is summarised inTable 3.1.
