Our choir enjoyed a truly memorable year, marked by growth, dedication and unforgettable performances. We began with our annual Culture Camp, where many focused hours were spent learning the new repertoire that would shape our musical journey for 2025. Our first performance took place on Open Day, followed shortly by the ever-popular Picnic Concert, where we had the privilege (and great fun!) of sharing the stage with several of our male staff members. In the second term, we joined Grey College for the Grey/ Blue Evening. We were enriched by masterclasses with a number of esteemed choral specialists, and in the third term, we had the opportunity to perform at the very first Interschools Culture Evening hosted by Paarl Gimnasium. Cantare also travelled to the Montagu Arts Festival, where we were awarded 85%.

We were honoured to serve the community of Wellington by performing at NG Kerk Wellington-Noord at the end of August, and later joined Laerskool Noord-Eind in their birthday festivities, sharing the stage with celebrated South African pianist Rocco de Villiers. And, as always, we were proud to contribute to our school’s Founders Day and Uitstapdag celebrations. We closed the year on a high note with a second choir camp after the exams – an inspiring weekend that included learning from Dr Christelle Engelbrecht, singing with Mr Nico Grobler and welcoming the new choir members for 2026. Cantare ends the year grateful, proud, and excited for the music still to come.
