The Drama Department and Film Society at Paarl Boys’ High had an exceptional year, with learners achieving no

table success in a variety of competitions. National Proscenium Competition

On 4 March 2025, learners with exceptional talent partici pated in the elimination round of the National Proscenium Competition. Wikus Visser (Gr. 10) and Jayden Pekeur (Gr. 11) were selected from this round to advance to the finals at Artscape. Jayden Pekeur further distinguished himself as the top 30 in the competition. Eisteddfod Success At the 2025 Paarl Vallei Eisteddfod, the Drama Department proudly celebrated several Cum Laude achievements: Sebastian Joubert – Monologue: 93% Paul Roos FILMIT Competition The Film Society submitted three successful pitches to the 2025 Paul Roos FILMIT competition: · Maxwell van der Walt – TikTok-style advertisement for Clemongold, following last year’s winning advert (cine matography by Bruwer Bornman) The Film Society received nominations in four categories: · Best Clemongold Advertisement Wikus Visser – Poetry and Prose: both 98% Jayden Pekeur – Monologue: 91%; Poem: 90% · Juan Roberts – Short Film · Krige Kotze – Short Film

Drama Artscape

The results were announced during an awards ceremony at Paul Roos on 24 October 2025, and Boys’ High won first place for the best Clemengold advertisement. Congratula tions to Maxwell van der Walt, Jayden Pekeur and Bruwer Bornman. These achievements reflect the talent, dedication and creativity of our learners, as well as the commitment of the Drama Department to fostering excellence in the performing arts.
