At the celebration of Paarl Boys’ High’s 2025 Founders Day marking the school’s 157th year of existence, Dr Ebbe Dommisse (matric 1957) was awarded the Order of the Blue Blazer (the greatest honour that Paarl Boys’ High can bestow on an individual or group) for his exceptional achievement, leadership and support to the school. Dr Dommisse pursued a career as a newspaperman, initially working for Die Burger as a reporter in 1961, and he became news editor in 1971. He was appointed senior assistant editor of Beeld newspaper in Johannesburg from 1974; he then worked as senior assistant editor of Die Burger in 1984, becoming editor in 1990. Dommisse was also a member of the board of management at Nasionale Media in Cape Town, and a recipient of the Phil Weber Award, Naspers’ highest accolade.

The Blue Day (golf) Our annual Blue Day golf day was once again a tremendous success, thanks to the overwhelming support of our many sponsors. A special word of appreciation goes to our main sponsors for the day: Optimum Financial Services Group, Simonsvlei Wine Cellar and Conqueror. We enjoyed a full and lively field, with 36 four-ball teams joining us for a fantastic day on the course. Congratulations to the winning team: Helana Klopper, Brent King, Conwell Less and Nicholas Caswell. Thank you to every participant for contributing to another memorable and successful event.
