The 2025 season proved to be one of the most successful and memorable years in the history of Paarl Boys’ High hockey. Across all age groups, our teams displayed exceptional skill, commitment, and character – affirming Boishaai as one of the premier hockey schools in South Africa. Over the course of the year, our hockey program contested 203 matches, recording 104 wins, 75 losses, and 24 draws. With 489 goals scored and 351 conceded, the squad finished with an impressive average scoreline equivalent to a 2-1 victory per match. Our teams continued to push new boundaries on the national stage: • U14A finished 6th in the country • U16A placed 20th in the country • First Team achieved an outstanding 15th place These results highlight the remarkable growth of our program. In 2019, Paarl Boys’ High was ranked 64th in the country. Just six years later, we proudly stand at 15th – a testament to the dedication of our players, coaches, and support staff. All three of our A teams – U14A, U16A, and U19A – toured Durban to compete in the prestigious Coastal Cup. Notably, this was the first year our First Team returned home unbeaten, an achievement that underscores their consistency and fighting spirit. Our Second Team also enjoyed a landmark season, taking part in a number of First Team tournaments and performing admirably –claiming victories over several schools’ top
sides. They additionally embarked on their first-ever tour to Namibia, marking a significant milestone for the squad. We were once again proud hosts of the annual U14 Top Schools Tournament, where our boys delivered a strong performance to finish 5th overall. The U16A team represented the school at Top Schools hosted by Paarl Gim, where they secured an excellent 6th place finish. Our First Team enjoyed one of their finest seasons to date, playing 30 matches, with only 5 losses and 3 draws – a remarkable record that reflects their discipline, teamwork, and tactical excellence. We are incredibly proud of our two SA Schools representatives: • Jamie Kock, who competed in a test series against Zimbabwe in Johannesburg • Martin de Bruyn, who represented South Africa at the Mirnawam Cup in Malaysia Their achievements bring great honour to Paarl Boys’ High and inspire the next generation of Boishaai hockey players. The 2025 season was undeniably a watershed year for Paarl Boys’ High hockey – one marked by achievement, growth, and continued progress. We celebrate not only the results, but the spirit, resilience, and brotherhood shown by every player in the program. Boishaai hockey is on an upward trajectory, and 2025 stands as another confident step in the right direction.
