It has been a year filled with highlights for virtuoso pianist Mike Wang (gr. 12). • Mike appeared on the Expresso Morning Show on SABC 3 to talk about achievements on his piano journey and perform four pieces live. These performances are also available on YouTube. • Mike spent two months in Germany to hone his skill under the guidance of masters of their trade. This included masterclasses and private lessons with professors from the universities of i.e. Berlin, Hanover and Leipzig. Of this experi ence Mike says, “This trip pushed me to pursue not only a higher level of pianistic skill, but also a deeper understanding of music and art. I wish to study abroad next year.” • At the 2024 Stellenbosch Woordfees, Mike performed G. Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue as soloist with the Winelands Philharmonic Orches tra under the baton of our very own Mr Reghardt Kühn. Mike was also nominated as Best Upcom ing Artist in the 2024 Woordtrofees Awards.
