This year, Cantare wowed audiences all over South Africa, from Paarl, the Cape Town City Hall and George Civic Centre, all the way to Bloemfontein. Their versatility and talent were on full display as they showcased a diverse repertoire of musical pieces, each performed with precision and passion. While ‘Oceans’ (made famous by Hillsong) undoubtedly stood out as the crowning achievement of their performances, Cantare’s members visibly relished every moment on stage, their joy and enthusiasm palpable to all in attendance. Their performance at the Choral Celebration Festival in the beautiful Cape Town City Hall underscored Cantare’s status as a choir of exceptional calibre, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of witnessing their talent first hand. The inaugural Paarl Sing choir festival in July was a breathtaking celebration of harmony and talent that captivated our whole community. We were honoured to be

joined on stage by the melodious voices of the choirs of Paarl Girls’ High, La Rochelle and Paul Roos. The event reached a spectacular crescendo with the San Francisco Girls Chorus whose ethereal sound transported the audience to new heights. The festival was a heartwarming testament to the power of music, bringing together diverse voices in a shared celebration of choral artistry. Cantare also participated in the national Cantamus choir competition for the first time this year. Although the competition was tough, we proudly achieved second place in the equal voices choir category. Special thanks to Mr Swart as well as Ms Goldstone and our new accompanist, Ms Steyl, who toured with us. The tour was not only an invaluable musical experience but also a valuable team building opportunity. We are excited about the many projects and achievements that lie ahead for the choir next year.
