HJS skryf twee spanne in vir die Boland Hoërskole-gholfkampioenskap waar 13 spanne meegeding het. Die kompetisie het in Worcester plaasgevind. Die beste drie uit vier tellings word geneem. HJS kom sesde. In die wedstryd teen Grey Kollege te Bloemfontein speel drie HJS- spanne teen drie Grey-spanne. Die formaat van die dag was beterbal- putjiespel gekombineer met ’n enkels- putjiespel wat gelyktydig oor 18 gate gespeel is. Eerste span verloor 6,5 – 2,5. Wenners van hul kompetisie was Tyran Snyders in enkels en Tyran en Jack Cloete in beterbal. Tweede span speel gelykop 4,5 – 4,5. Wenners van hul kompetisie was Michael Papenfus, Juvan Kotze en Wiann van der Merwe in enkels en Jan Stals van Rooyen en Juvan Kotze in beterbal. Derde span verloor 5,5 – 3,5. Wenners van hul kompetisie was Friedrich Bauermeister, Joshua Breytenbach en Thomas Esterhuyse en enkels. • 10 March (1st term): played in the Bridge Fund Junior Series, Robertson. Tyran made eight birdies on a cold, wet and windy day to finish on a score of 66 (6 under par). He qualifies for the regional finals of the Bridge Fund Managers Junior World Series in April where the winning prize is an all-expenses-paid trip to compete in the Junior North and South Championship at Pinehurst, USA, in July this year. • 25-27 March (holiday): SA Boys U19 Strokeplay Championship. This the biggest junior tournament in South Africa. It was played at a very difficult Humewood GC in Port Elizabeth. All of South Africa’s best junior golfers were playing in this tournament. Tyran finished in 4th position with scores of 67, 70, 71, 71 (-9). He qualified for the Top 32 Matchplay knockout stages. • 28-30 March (holiday): SA Boys U19 Matchplay Championship. Tyran qualified (previously) for this Top 32 knockout stages. He played well, won three matches and progressed to the semifinals, but was narrowly defeated, earning the 3rd position. • Is now ranked the no. 7 junior in South Africa and has progressed significantly on the World Amateur Golf rankings. • 7 April: participated in the 36 hole Bridge Fund Managers South Final at King David Mowbray Golf Club. The final consisted of nine regional winners of tournaments held in the regions of Western Province, Boland and Southern Cape. Tyran had scores BUITEPRESTASIES TYRAN SNYDERS

of 65 & 72 (-7) to win by 4 strokes. His victory secures him the sponsors’ paid trip to North Carolina in June/July to participate in four golf tournaments on the American Junior circuit, including the prestigious North & South Junior Championship at the world famous Pinehurst Golf Resort. He then won this last-mentioned tournament. • Selected for the Western Province U19 Triangular Tournament played on 11 and 12 May at Robertson GC. • Participated in the Boland Men’s Amateur Open played 17-19 April at the Paarl GC. This is a Golf RSA Men’s Tournament. Tyran finished in 5th position with scores of 69, 79, 69, 68 (-3). • Tyran’s current rankings : • 25-27 March (holiday): SA Boys U19 Strokeplay Championship. This is the biggest junior tournament in South Africa. It was played at a very difficult Humewood GC in Port Elizabeth. All of South Africa’s best junior golfers were playing in this tournament. • Francois finished in 29th position with scores of 76, 70, 77, 76 (+11). He qualified for the Top 32 Matchplay knockout stages. • 28-30 March (holiday): SA Boys U19 Matchplay Championship. Francois qualified (previously) for these Top 32 knockout stages. Unfortunately he was knocked out in the 1st round. • Francois is ook gekies om WP in die Driehoekige toernooi te verteenwoordig wat op 11 en 12 Mei te Robertson gespeel is. JANUS ROBERTS Janus het 17-19 April deelgeneem aan die Boland Amateurtoernooi. JOHN RABIE John is by ’n interstreeklike toernooi te Katberg, waar ses provinsies deelgeneem het, vir die o. 15- Boland-gholfspan gekies. John het algeheel 10e geëindig en was hy ook Boland se nr. 1-speler. Die Bolandspan het vierde geëindig. JAN STALS VAN ROOYEN Jan het in die King David Mowbray Junior Ope met 74 houe sewende geëindig. Hy het op 7 April aan die Strand Ope deelgeneem en ’n 2e Net-prys ontvang met 79 houe in die eerste rondte en 72 houe in die tweede rondte. – WP Men’s Order of Merit: #2 – WP Junior Order of Merit: #2 – Golf RSA Junior Order of Merit: #7 FRANCOIS CILLIERS
