INTERHOUSE SWIMMING GALA The interhouse swimming gala was once again an evening event. All had much fun and mass participation was at the order of the day. The results were as follows: Villieria Berlyn Zeederberg Monte Bello Imhoff Bellevue 191 65 58 57 51 24 INTERSCHOOLS SWIMMING Interschools took place at Gimnasium. Pierre Pretorius was our Victor Ludorm for scoring the most points for the team. Paarl Boys’ High lost to Paarl Gimnasium. FRANK MYBURGH TWILIGHT GALA Our boys were victorious in the Boys section and won the shield for the third year in a row. NEWLANDS A�LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS It is our third year participating in this gala. Paarl Boys’ High came third, being beaten only by Rondebosch Boys’ High and Paul Roos. Our u.16 swimmers were our school champions, winning almost everything in their age group. The results for the boys are as follows: Rondebosch Boys’ High - 227 Bishops - 144 Paul Roos - 208 DF Malan - 121 Paarl Boys’ High - 188 Fairmont - 96 SACS - 155 Jan van Riebeeck - 60 WBHS - 151

LEVEL 2 SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS The Level 2 swimming championships took place in East London and Boys’ High swimmers of the various Paarl clubs were well represented. Christian Slabbert received three gold, two silver and two bronze medals. Dehan van Dyk received one silver and one gold medal. Wynand Viljoen was up for one gold medal. Jan-Hendrik Basson received two gold and two bronze medals. Alex van Rooijen received one gold medal, two silver medals and one bronze medal. Walter Travers received two gold and two bronze medals. Bob Fick had a field day at the championships with six gold medals and two silver medals. SENIOR SWIMMING NATIONALS Andre van Huyssteen qualified for and participated in the Senior National swimming championships in Durban in April. He was part of the Western Cape relay team winning a bronze medal. Darren Minnies and Pierre Pretorius qualified for and participated in the Youth Nationals. It is no mean feat participating in any of these two swimming championships. The three above-mentioned gentlemen also participated in an international swimming event which took place in the new Maties pool in Stellenbosch, along with names such as Chad le Clos.
