After a very successful 2014 Cape Schools week the 1st XI had mixed fortunes for the rest of the year. However, there was a considerable improvement in the Western Cape Cricket Festival in January in which we, as hosts, achieved four wins out of five against some very strong opposition. At this time the latter rounds of the CSA National Schools T20 challenge saw us beat Paarl Gimnasium, Boland Landbou and Wynberg to reach the National Finals at Stellenbosch. In the first round we comprehensively beat Menlo Park, the eventual winners, with Justin Wubbeling picking up the Man of the Match cheque for R3 000 for a superb 96 not out. The fine line between success and failure was never more apparent than in the two games we lost by four runs and twelve runs. We finished a creditable fourth in the tournament but it was a case of so near yet so far. Ulrich Kotze also won the Man of the Match award for his 42 runs in our win against Lions. The school won R60 000 in getting to the Finals. The Centre of Excellence has allowed us to implement a comprehensive winter programme and our boys have been privileged to have former Protea Allan Donald attend practices and give them the benefit of his advice and to have the great man bowling to them. In the Interhouse competition the Junior section was won by Imhoff who beat Monte Bello in the final. The Senior section was won by Imhoff who defeated Bellevue. Another very successful BPL fundraising event began with a Gala Dinner with Gary Kirsten as the guest speaker and his Foundation XI were beaten by eight wickets in the Final by the Glacier Giants. Once again we are well represented in the Boland Provincial squads.
