VINOVERITAS APP – A GIANT LEAP FOR VERITAS ONLINE WINE SALES After thirty years as the oldest and most trusted competition for market- ready wines and brandies, Veritas is delighted to announce the first of its kind APP for wine competitions. This milestone has been achieved despite the difficulties that the wine industry has encountered during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. Those coveted Veritas Gold and Double Gold medal winning wines and brandies will now be available for easy ordering and delivery on your door- step thanks to a new specially, uniquely developed dedicated app for online wines sales – a first in the world of wine competitions. This giant leap for the country’s top wine competition has been made pos- sible by a ground-breaking collaboration between the organisers – the SA National Wine Show Association (SANWSA) and its long-standing financial partner CTP’s SA Litho’s division, with the well-established Getwine portal for online services and the Johannesburg-based Cognition app-developer. This significant wine industry development comes at a most opportune time, when the South African consumer has shown a major swing in favour of on- line purchasing, including wine, as a result of Covid-19 restrictions and reali- ties, as well as a need to recover the wine industry’s lost sales momentum. It is a proud moment in the 30 year history of Veritas that we can launch this unique app that will benefit both the SA Wine Industry and the consumer. There will be a direct sales benefit for all the Double Gold and Gold award winning wines and cellars already this year. The focus of Veritas from the beginning was to provide the wine lover with a guide to the top wines that were entered in the competition, and now the consumer can order the top achievers from the comfort of his home. This is a case where we have suc- ceeded in changing a negative situation into a huge positive that will greatly benefit the South African wine industry during these trying times and with long-term benefits for all concerned. This means that the wine- and brandy-buying public can download the VinoVeritas app on their smartphones or PCs and then access the results and immediately order the 198 products that won Gold or Double Gold at the 2020 Veritas Awards. A prerequisite to entering for Veritas is that a minimum of 300 bottles of wine and 120 of brandy have to be available for purchasing – but access to these has often been logistically challenging through liquor outlets country- wide. The collaboration with Getwine with its streamlined distribution net- work will now radically change this situation. We trust that this initiative by Veritas will bring your favourite award winning wine very soon to your cellar and to be enjoyed at your table.
