HEX RIVER
NORTHERN PROVINCES Regional Chair: Brett Gosling The Northern Provinces packed 6.0 million cartons in the 2023/24 season, which is 3.1% higher than its estimate (5.8 million cartons), and 6.8 % higher than the previous season (5.6 million cartons). Total hectares planted decreased with 8% since 2023 to 1,895 ha in 2024. ORANGE RIVER Regional Chair: Gabriel Viljoen Higher yields were packed in the Orange River than originally estimated with this region ending its season at 24.2 million cartons, which is 13.3% more than the original estimate of 21.1 million cartons, and 48% more than the challenging 22/23 season. Total hectares planted in 2024 was almost unchanged to 2023, with 5,734 hectares. OLIFANTS RIVER Regional Chair: Morné Paxton The Olifants River region concluded the season with 3.9 million cartons packed, which is 14,5% more than its estimate (3.4 million cartons), and 28.5% more than the previous season (3.0 million cartons). Total hectares planted increased by 2% to 1,165 hectares, due to an increase in mostly licensed varieties. BERG RIVER Regional Chair: Eurica Scholtz The Berg River region packed 18.5 million cartons, which is 2.6% lower than the previous season and exceeded its crop estimate of 17.5 million cartons. Total hectares planted
was mostly unchanged at 4,551 hectares. HEX RIVER Regional Chair: Michael Vorster
Isolated rain and hail during the season required the crop estimate for the Hex River to be lowered by 1.5 million cartons (6%) from its original estimate of 23.5 million cartons, to 22.0 million cartons. Final inspection volumes for the Hex River region were 23.2 million cartons, which is 9.5% more than the previous season. Total hectares planted was mostly unchanged at 6,143 hectares.
