Temperature recorder PLACEMENT OF TEMPERATURE RECORDERS Using portable temperature recorders helps ensure mango shipments are maintained at the correct ship ping temperature. These devices provide a reliable record of temperature conditions during transit, espe cially in disputes where transport companies may not share data from the reefer unit. To ensure accurate monitoring, shippers should carefully install temperature recorders in each ship ment and fully complete the labels on strip recorders, including the date, local time, and specific location of each device. This information should be documented on the preloading form. For optimal results, THREE temperature monitors are recommended per container or trailer: FRONT BULKHEAD: Place one recorder inside the first pallet near the front bulkhead of the reefer unit to detect any short cycling of refrigerated air. CENTER LOAD: Position another inside a central pallet (e.g., position 9, 10, 11, or 12), where product heating is most likely. REAR PALLET: Attach the final recorder to the rear-facing side of the last pallet, at eye level, to measure air temperature furthest from the reefer unit. If using only one recorder, prioritise this location. AVOID PLACING temperature recorders directly on container or trailer walls, as this can produce falsely high readings that do not reflect the load's actual air temperature.
