MRL SPECIFICATION SUPERMARKETS + EU MINIMUM STANDARD
MAXIMUM RESIDUE LEVELS The traces pesticides leave in treated products are called “residues”. A maximum residue level (MRL) is the highest level of a pesticide residue that is legally tolerated in fruit when pesticides are applied correctly (Good Agricultural Practice). RESIDUES <100% EU MRL Each individual residue must not exceed 100% of the applicable EU MRL, unless the packing is done directly for a supermarket. ACUTE REFERENCE DOSE (ARfD) The Acute Reference Dose (ARfD) is an estimate of the amount of a substance in food or drinking water that a person can ingest within 24 hours without significant health effects.
