cover them. And to my dad, thank you for every speech you have helped me with, Daddy, including this one. For listening to me rattle on about Bio before my exams and sitting in the car with me for at least 10 minutes in the morning in front of the school gate, so I could share the latest gossip or complain about my early morning meetings. Mommy and Daddy, you have shaped me into who I am today, and I could not have asked for better role-models. Thank you. High School If I had to ask each student what they thought about high school, I would get some interesting responses. But allow
utterly nervous yet excited. At the same time, we made some good memories. To Lael and Claire, good luck with the journey ahead. I cannot wait to see what the next year has to offer for the two of you. I promised myself to make the speech short and sweet, so allow me to end off with a message for the Matrics: We grew up, we did it, and we are almost there. For many of us sitting here the words “I can’t wait” are probably floating through our minds. They have been for a while. “I can’t wait for the bell to ring”, “I can’t wait for our matric dance”, “I can’t wait for next year.” But for a moment, just one moment, stop and look at
me to share my view. To me, high school is a place that prepares us for the next stage in our lives. Not necessarily academically but also in life. Let us be frank: high school is not easy, but that is precisely what makes our time here so special. Getting lost in the halls as a grade taught us how to work together as a team, and struggling to cope with some subjects taught us how to ask for help. Knowing what it feels like to win 4M taught us how to be part of something much bigger than ourselves. So, on behalf of the Matric Class of 2024 to the Larrie students and especially the
where you are. If there is one thing I want you to take from this, it is not to spend too much time waiting for something to end. Stop and enjoy what is happening right now. I guarantee that when we ring the school bell, time will stand still, and all the high school memories will come flooding in at once. You’ll think to yourself, it’s real, you did it. Do not take high school for granted – make memories, laugh until your stomach hurts, wear your blazers at every Kreet practice, and enjoy every moment because before you know it, it will all be over.
Daisies, do not take high school for granted – make memories, laugh until your stomach hurts, wear your blazers at every Kreet practice, and enjoy every moment because before you know it, it will all be over. To my student council, I have had the privilege to work alongside an amazing group of girls for the past year and could not have asked for a better team to lead the grade with. Every 7 am meeting will be cherished, and every venting session in the student council will be remembered. Damienne, Klara, Nikitta, Amy, Jenna, Kelsey, Ane, Nina, Liza, Sisca and Mrs Naude, thank you. Nalene, my partner in crime, thank you for being such an amazing Head Girl. I’ll never forget our hour-long phone calls to plan an event or the first few SGB meetings we attended,
2024, allow me to take a glimpse into our future. Dr Seus once said “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes; you can steer yourself in any direction you choose.” As we stand here today, ready to start the next chapter of our lives, remember that you have the power to shape your own future. Go out there and be the best version of yourselves. Make mistakes and make them again. Let the lesson you learned in high school guide you forward, and never forget the passion, perseverance and support that brought you to this moment, and know that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Congratulations Class of 2024.
