All Girls’ Festival

Opening

On 26 April 2023, two busloads of very excited Larries undertook the long trip to Bloemfontein to participate in the annual All Girls’ Festival, where 22 government girls’ schools from across the country competed against one another in a variety of sports and cultural codes. The aim of the Festival is to promote competition, as well as celebrate women’s talents and abilities. To this point, the slogan of this year’s festival – hosted by Eunice Girls’ High School – was ‘ All girls bloom !’ which they most definitely did!

Tennis, hockey, squash, and netball were just some of the sporting codes in which La Rochelle participated, while cultural activities included public speaking, debating and drama, all of which did exceptionally well. Stand out moments were Kiera Green winning the Senior Public Speaking competition, while the Drama Group’s performance of ‘Kintsugi: Shining through the Cracks’ came second in the Best Production category and the crowning glory, Mia Valentine’s individual accolade as Best Actress. The Larries are eagerly looking forward to the All Girls’ Festival of 2024, which will take place in Potchefstroom.
