Fedeficiencies in grapevines are not common in South Africa due to the ab sence of free lime in most vineyard soils, as well as the relatively good resis tance of the grapevine thereto on calcareous soil. It is however, found localised in calcareous or high pH-soils in the Breede River and Olifants River valleys, especially with 101-14 Mgt as rootstock (Fig. 20).
