(Dal Josaphat Stadium, Friday 9 February 2018) For the sixth successive year Boys’ High and Girls’ High (BHGH) took part in this competition as a combined team. For the first time this team beat BloemRoos (Bloemhof and Paul Roos), by coming second after the winning team Paarl Gimnasium (PGim) who have won the competition for the third successive year. THE FINAL SCORES OF THE COMBINED TEAMS WERE: PGim 922 BHGH 873 BloemRoos 826 • PBHS athletes improved two meeting records. • Boys’ High athletes obtained 14 first places, 23 second places, 20 third places and 34 fourth places, 17 fifth places and 15 sixth places. AWARDS MADE TO THE FOLLOWING OF OUR ATHLETES FOR BEST PERFORMANCE IN THEIR AGE GROUP : • Coetzee le Roux for the best performance in a field event for junior boys in the shot put U15with a distance of 17,08 m (904). • Jacques de Villiers for the best performance in a track event for ju- nior boys in the 100 m hurdles (84 cm) U15 in a time of 13,89 s (e) (843). B. HENTIES FRUIT JUICES/PBHS

INVITATION ATHLETICS MEETING (Brug Street, Friday 26 January 2018)

This year Paarl Boys’ High held its 46th Invitation Meeting on our athletics track at Brug Street. At times the wind blew strongly, but all athletes gave of their best and at the end it was a very successful meeting once again. Five meeting records for the girls were broken and one was equalled. Only 2 track records for the boys were broken. One of these was by Luciano Custodio in the 400 m hurdles (84 cm) for boys under 16 in a time of 56,6 seconds (723 points) . The old record was 56,7 seconds set by Gianni Lombard in 2014. Out of the 50 events for boys PBHS obtained 28 first places, 17 second places en 19 third places. We also won three of the relay races, respectively for U14, U17 and U19.
