SA Championships The Western Province U14 water polo team emerged victorious at the Schools Water Polo South Africa Interprovincial Tournament, claiming the national title in a spectacular 6 – 0 win over KwaZulu-Natal. This championship, earned through teamwork and tenacity, highlights the skill of these young players, including standout team member Kéan van Zyl from Paarl Boys’ High. Their achievement has brought pride to both Western Province and Paarl Boys’ High School, showcasing the bright future of water polo in the region. Bishops and Paul Roos Gymnasium Paarl Boys’ High’s U14A and U15A water polo teams started their league season on 26 January with challenging matches against Bishops and Paul Roos Gymnasium. Despite tough results, both teams showed resilience. League results: • U14A: Lost to Paul Roos (2 – 9); lost to Bishops (5 – 7) • U15A: Lost to Paul Roos (4 – 12); lost to Bishops (4 – 10) After the league matches, the U15A team excelled at the Knysna Chukka Festival, finishing undefeated. Knysna Chukka Festival Results • Day 1: victories over Hertzlia (8 – 5), St Dominics (10 – 3), Grey High (9 – 1), Wynberg (5 – 1) • Day 2: victories over Merrifield (8 – 2), Somerset College

(8 – 0), Kingswood (10 – 3), St Andrew’s (9 – 6), Hudson Park (16 – 1) The U15A team earned individual accolades with Kéan van Zyl as top goal scorer, George du Toit as best goalkeeper

and Theuns Louw as most valuable player. Selborne College Tournament

Paarl Boys’ High’s U14 water polo team secured third place at the Selborne College tournament in East London. Their results were as follows: Day 1: • Lost to St Andrew’s (3 – 1) • Victories against Pearson College (9 – 0), Merrifield College (6 – 2), Selborne College B (9 – 0), Grey High School (5 – 3) Day 2: • Victories against Hudson College (9 – 1), Stirling College (4 – 3) • Lost to Paul Roos (2 – 3), St Andrew’s (3 – 4) Brent Addison was named best goalkeeper of the tournament. Rondebosch Tournament Paarl Boys’ High’s U14A water polo team finished 7th out of 20 teams at the Rondebosch U14 Tournament 12–15 September. A thrilling 6 – 5 victory over host Rondebosch highlighted their resilience.
