One of our mission statements has always been “Boishaai bied balans” (Boys’ High offers balance) – and we mean it.

The number of boys wanting to take music lessons in the last few years meant that the old building housing the music de- partment became insufficient. On 26 February the new music centre was opened with flair, hosting a picnic con- cert on the grass in front of the school. The new centre has more lesson rooms, practice rooms and a large re-

hearsal space for the various music groups. This space can double as a chamber concert hall or venue for other small performances. There is also a computer centre, equipped with music-writing software and MIDI controllers. Our sincere thanks to Mr Ettienne Cronjé who managed this project. We also extend an open invitation to anyone that would like to walk through the new facility. You are very welcome to pay us a visit (and make music with us!).
