H. HS PORTERVILLE TOP-10-ATLETIEKBYEENKOMS (Woensdagmiddag, 26 Februarie 2020) Tien van ons atlete het aan die Top 10-byeenkoms wat deur Hoërskool Porterville aangebied is. Aangesien ons die enigste skool was wat slegs seuns gehad het wat deelgeneem het, was ons daarop ingestel om die byeenkoms te geniet. Leonardo van der Werf het ontpop as hekkiesloper en Jo Himmelstützer en Elton Lombaard as spiesgooiers. Die 4 x 100-aflosspan (Jaden Neethling, Jacques de Vil- liers, Herman Visser en Luciano Custodio – nie een ’n naelloper nie) het ’n puik 2e plek behaal met ’n tyd van 44,7 s teenoor Gim se 43,6 s. Ons span was baie gewild onder die toeskouers en die hele span het puik vertoon. WESTERN CAPE HIGH SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIP: (Daljosafat Stadium, Friday 13 March and Saturday 14 March) The first part of the meeting ended late Friday night and the second part continued from 08.00 the next morning. There was visibly a lack of urgency and support by the athletes if you consider how many heats became finals. • Unfortunately Leonardo van der Werf, the Boland 1 500 m champion for boys U15, had to withdraw from the meeting due to a stomach virus.

• 14 PBHS-athletes took part and did exceptionally well. J. BOLAND-ATLETIEKSPAN VIR 2020 Weens die grendeltyd wat almal onkant gevang het, was baie atlete se droom om aan ’n SA Kampioenskaps byeenkoms deel te neem, aan skerwe. Om 7–8 maande te oefen vir die groot byeenkoms net om te hoor dit gaan nie meer plaasvind nie, was ’n groot teleurstelling vir alle atlete.
