EERSTE HELFTE / FIRST HALF Points awarded according to the ASA tables and the APE tables.

A. High School Swellendam Hessequa Abatoir – Prestige Relay Meeting (Swellendam, Friday 30 August 2019) This is the first time that we took part in this meeting. The schools took part two events, namely the 4 x 100 relay and the 1 000 m Swedish medley (100m–200m–300 m–400m). Our team obtained the following places. U14 First in both the 4 x 100 m and the medley relay U15 Fourth in the 4 x 100 m and third in the medley relay U17 First in both the 4 x 100 m and the medley relay • PBHS won the team competition for boys. • The U14s were declared the best boys’ team on the day with the highest point on the APE table. • The U17 medley relay team vastly improved the previous meeting record , held by Paul Roos Gymnasium. • In the mass relay PBHS and Rhenish took part as a combined team. Despite dropping the relay baton two or three times, the team obtained a second place. Positions of the first three teams for boys (no points available) : 1. Paarl Boys’ High 2. Oakdale Agricultural School 3. Paul Roos Gymnasium Hierdie uitstekend georganiseerde byeenkoms is vir die sesde keer deur die skool aangebied. Dit het oor pret en genot gegaan. Die puntetotaal is bloot om die kom- petisiegees aan te wakker en die byeenkoms is nie ’n amptelike “ interskole ” nie. HJS het vir die tweede agtereenvolgende jaar aan die byeenkoms deelgeneem en net soos verlede jaar in die massa-aflos met HMS Paarl gekombineer om as ’n span deel te neem. Items waaraan daar in die ouderdomsgroepe o. 14, o. 15 en o. 19 deelgeneem is: • 4x100m-aflos • 4x200m-aflos • 800m–400m–200m–2x100m-aflos • Mylwedloop • Massa-aflos met gemengde spanne (seuns en dogters) Ongelukkig is die plekke (behalwe vir die mylwedloop) wat die spanne in die onder- skeie items behaal het, nie beskikbaar nie. B. HOËRSKOOL STRAND AFLOSBYEENKOMS (Saterdag 7 September 2019)

C. HJS/HMS-afrigtingskliniek

(Brugstraat, Vrydag 4 Oktober 2019) Die twee skole het gesamentlik hul tweede afrigtingskliniek aangebied, hoofsaaklik gemik op laerskoolatlete, maar ook vir ons eie atlete. Ons kon weer gebruik maak van topafrigters in elke dissipline. Vanjaar het ons amper 200 atlete gehad (130 in 2018) wat die kliniek bygewoon het. Die twee sessies was baie genotvol en leersaam. D. TWIZZA SUPER SCHOOL SERIES (Green Point Athletics Stadium, Saturday 5 October 2019) Athletic teams consisting of boys or girls of high schools in the Western Province took part in the first Twizza Super School Regional Athletics Meeting. Teams com- peted to be invited to the Top 40 schools to take part in the Grand Finale on Saturday 1 February 2020 in Pretoria at the Bestmed Tuks Athletics Stadium. A team consisted of 15 athletes across two age groups: U16 and U19. Out team was represented by 10 U16 and 5 U19 boys. The Boys’ High team won the regional meeting. The total points achieved by the first five teams for boys are as follows: 1. Paarl Boys’ High 14 931 2. Boland Agricultural School 14 199 3. Parel Vallei High School 12 370 4. Bellville High School 11 736 5. Technical High School Drostdy 11 372 Of all the PBHS athletes Gratias Mukapini obtained the highest point on the ASA table namely 920 points for his height of 2,00m in the high jump for boys U16. This is a school record for boys U16 as well as U17 and equals the U19 school record.
