In the beginning of the year about 45 boys played trials hoping to make one of the three teams. Golf

Even though Covid affected many of our different sports codes, our golfers were fortunate that they could still continue to play many of their matches. Our golfers play against other Boland schools like Paul Roos, Boland Landbou, Somerset College, Parel Vallei, Paarl Gimnasium and Grey College. Our three teams played fantastic golf this year with our first team losing only one match the entire year. Eight of our boys also entered the Boland Schools Team Championship that took place at Boschenmeer Golf Course. During this tournament, our first team, Janus Roberts, Daniel du Plessis, John Rabie and Dylan Kayne, played superbly and won the tournament. They would have represented Boland at the National Team Golf Championship but unfortunately the tournament was cancelled due to Covid. A second highlight of the year was when five our first team players participated in the prestigious Sun City Invitational during the first week of April. It was an excellent opportunity for our boys to compete on probably the best golf course in South Africa,

namely the Gary Player Golf Course. The tournament took place over a period of three days on both the Gary Player Golf Course and the Lost City Golf Course. Dylan Kayne was outstanding and won the individual tournament with Janus Roberts coming second. The year ended with the Paarl Boys’ High Championship played over 18 holes at Boschenmeer Golf Course. 24 golfers took part in two categories: A-section handicap 0-9 and B-section handicap 10 18. Once again Dylan Kayne reigned supreme and was crowned champion golfer of the year. Tertius de Bruyn was the B-section winner. I would like to thank all the Boys’ High golfers for their commitment throughout this year and I wish all the Grade 12s the very best. Thank you also to our parents, especially Morné Kayne and Pierre du Plessis. Paarl Boys’ High Golf is extremely healthy and I am looking forward to seeing outstanding results once again in 2022.
