Boishaaier 2021

Paarl Boys’ High Hockey was very fortunate to be able to play matches in the 2021 season. Hockey

Although interrupted several times due to Covid our boys stepped up and performed very well when they needed to. The highlight of the season would have to be the fact that we were able to play against Grey College and our boys performed admirably with our U14As winning their game 1 – 0 and the first team drawing 1 – 1. All three of our flagship teams, the U14A, U16A and first team boys competed in the inaugural Cape Town Premier League Schools addition where all three teams performed very well against the top schools in the Cape. After playing Rondebosch in the second term all sport was called off again which was a difficult pill for the boys to swallow as they had all been

performing so well. Once we were able to play sport again, the only official games held were at the U17 Top Schools tournament held at Paarl Gimnasium. Since this was an U17 tournament it meant that we would lose our matrics and that a completely new team would need to be selected to go and compete. After only two weeks of training the team came together incredibly well and managed to end fourth out of the top 12 schools. We were incredibly proud of this result given the short time frame. Paarl Boys’ High Hockey is looking forward to a successful 2022 season given the opportunity to play. We have some really exciting young hockey stars coming through our hockey programme and we believe that we will compete well, no matter whom we shall face.
