(Coetzenburg Stadium, Friday 5 February 2016) For the fourth successive year Boys’ High and Girls’ High took part in this competi- tion as a combined team: Girls/Boys High (GHBH). Paarl Gimnasium (PGim) won the competition, BloemRoos came second, with GHBH in the third place. THE FINAL SCORES WERE: PGim 947 Bloemroos 847 BHGH 836 • PBHS athletes improved ten meeting records of which Luciano Custodio was responsible for three U14 records. • Luciano Custodio improved the school record in the 400 m for boys U14, set by Hendré Olivier at Coetzenburg on Saturday 19 March 1988, from 54,6 s (h) to 52,72 s (e). • Lukas van der Watt improved the school record in the pole vault for boys U19 from 4,50 m to 4,62 m, set by Piet Roux (son of the former Springbok centre, Mannetjies Roux) in 1982. • The members of the U19 4 x 100 m relay team improved the school record set by the team of 1982 from 42,55 s (e) to 42,20 s (e). • The U14 relay team improved the school record from 45,6 s to 45,5 s (45,63 s (e)). • PBHS also won the U14, U15 and U19 sections for boys. • Boys’ High athletes obtained 24 first places, 26 second places, 19 third places, 19 fourth places, 17 fifth places and 17 sixth places. AWARDS MADE TO THE FOLLOWING OF OUR ATHLETES FOR BEST PERFOR- MANCE IN THEIR AGE GROUP: • Luciano Custodio for the best performance in a track event for boys in the 100 m hurdles (76,2 cm) U14 in a time of 13,68 s (e). This was also the best overall performance for boys. • Rhynardt Rijnsburger for the best performance in a field event for junior boys in the discus U15 with a distance of 52,41 m.
