PHOTO 425. Premature leaf fall is considered characteristic of damage caused by salinity. Also note the intense edge desiccation of the leaves on the left (21:00 position).

PHOTO 426. In conjunction with premature leaf fall (Photo 425), shoot tips tend to remain green, die back or experience renewed bud burst. Also note the shortened internodia, resulting from initial delayed shoot growth.
